    Things to do in Great Mills, Maryland

    Flat Iron Farm 

    Flat Iron Farm is most beloved and known for its Christmas festivities at A Casual Christmas. Many south Maryland natives call it a staple Maryland Christmas tradition to hang out at the farm. The farm decorates all of its buildings with ribbon, tons of lights, garland, and more. There are several local vendors selling their goods. There is hot cocoa and goodies, as well as pony rides and visits with Santa. Every year the festivities begin at Thanksgiving and run through Christmas.  

    Patuxent River Naval Museum 

    Not officially located in Great Mills, but very close by. This museum is member-supported and privately funded to help preserve the history of Naval Aviation and all associated technology. There are many amazing military aircraft on display, the ability to get into an interactive flight simulator, a gift shop, tours, and the ability to rent out the museum for private events.  

    St. Mary’s River State Park 

    There are two sections to the state park and section one is located along Route 5 between Leonardtown and Great Mills. The park is about 250 acres and home to St. Mary’s Lake. It is one of Maryland’s most popular fresh water fishing spots.  

    Chancellors Run Activity Center 

    The center hosts a number of community activities including events for the senior center. It is located in the Chancellors Run Regional Park.
